Bold without a bold button
Bold text from this tool is not a font. It is a set of Unicode characters drawn at full weight, which is why they paste into fields with no bold button.
Bold Unicode is not a font
Each bold letter is a separate Unicode character drawn from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block (U+1D400–U+1D7FF, added in Unicode 3.1, 2001). The block was built for math notation, where a plain x and a bold 𝐱 mean different things. Your device ships a font that draws those code points as bold glyphs, so the character itself arrives bold.
Why it pastes into fields with no bold button
The style lives in the character, not in formatting. Paste 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 into Instagram, Discord, or a game chat and the app just sees text. Most modern devices ship the glyphs for the bold sans, serif, and italic subsets, so the characters travel where bold formatting cannot.
Why CSS bold does nothing to these glyphs
These glyphs are already drawn at full weight, so wrapping them in <strong>, <b>, or setting font-weight: 900 changes nothing. For your own site, use real HTML bold (<strong>) or CSS (font-weight: bold). Save Unicode bold for plain-text surfaces like bios, DMs, and gaming tags.

Drops digits — script and fraktur bold

Rule of thumb: paste a safe style when you need it to just work. Reach for script, fraktur, squared, or circled when the destination is modern. For cursive, gothic, or aesthetic looks, open the full font generator.
Where bold text earns its weight
A bold font works wherever plain text is the only option. These are the surfaces where it earns its keep.
- Instagram bios and captions: Instagram has no bold button in bios, captions, comments, or DMs. Bold Unicode is the only way to make a hook stand out.
- Discord nicknames and roles: Discord names support Unicode, so a bold nickname reads heavier in the member list and in chat.
- TikTok and YouTube captions: Bold the first two or three words of a caption so the hook lands before the feed cuts it off.
- Free Fire, PUBG, and Roblox names: In-game names are plain-text fields. A bold style makes a gamer tag read sharper in lobbies and leaderboards.
- Facebook posts and comments: Facebook posts, comments, and profiles have no bold button. Paste the Unicode characters to add weight to a hook or headline.

Pick a bold style that holds up
Four calls that cover almost every situation.
Default to sans-serif bold: this bold font has the widest device and app coverage. If you are unsure where the text will land, pick this one.
Avoid circled and squared for long strings: filled squares and circles can tofu on older Android and under-resourced apps. Save them for short hooks of two to four characters.
Need digits to render bold? skip bold script and bold fraktur — those alphabets have no number glyphs by design. Use a safe style for digits and mixed text.

When bold text looks wrong
Three issues behind almost every support question about bold Unicode.
My bold text shows up as empty boxes (tofu)
The device lacks full coverage for the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. This shows up most with filled squared and circled glyphs on older Android, and bold script on older Windows. Fall back to the sans-serif default — it has the widest coverage. On your own site, use real HTML bold (<strong>) instead.
My numbers did not get bold
Bold script and bold fraktur have no digit glyphs by design. Your digits fall through to plain text. Use a safe variant if you need numbers bold too.
My bold text breaks my bio link or hashtag
Most platforms stop recognizing a URL, hashtag, or @handle as clickable once you swap its characters for Unicode bold. Keep links, hashtags, and mentions in standard characters, and bold only the words around them.

Will bold text work in every game?
Sans-serif and serif bold work in almost every game that accepts Unicode names — Free Fire, PUBG, Roblox. Bold script and bold fraktur drop digits, and filled squared and circled can tofu on older phones or games with a limited font. Pick a safe variant and preview in-game first.
How is this different from making text bold in an app (Ctrl+B)?
App bold (Ctrl+B, the B button in a rich editor) is formatting applied to normal characters — copy it out and the bold is gone. Unicode bold is a different set of characters that travels wherever plain text goes: bios, DMs, gaming tags, captions. CSS font-weight and <strong> do nothing to it.
Can I combine bold text with other styles?

Does the bold text support numbers and special characters?
